Areas of expertise
-
I get exclusive stories regularly through being plugged in with sources and knowing where to look for information (and where my competitors don’t).
-
If a huge piece of news drops, I’m good to cover and blast it to readers within 30 minutes. Writing fast with exceptional quality is one of my greatest strengths.
-
Exposing corporate wrongdoings has become one of my favorite parts of the job. Some of these features take a couple weeks to put together, while others have required several months of reporting to get the story right.
My feature on Mountain Express Oil (see first bullet below) won the American Society of Business Publication Editors’ 2025 Stephen Barr Award for Feature Writing. It was also awarded the ASBPE’s best impact/investigative feature for 2025.
-
Following up a big piece of news with longer, in-depth features that break down the news and its significance has become a staple in my diet.
-
Readers of business publications love hearing from top-level executives on their company’s growth plans and operational challenges. I’ve interviewed several CEOs and other c-suite execs through the years for these types of stories.
-
At C-Store Dive, I have a monthly column called Fueling Up, where I examine an industry topic that’s on my mind and share my personal opinions.
-
I launched CSP Daily News’ first podcast, At Your Convenience, and was the main host and producer until leaving the publication in late 2020. Episodes included interviews with senior executives and analysts in the c-store industry.
In the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic, my friend Adam and I launched a podcast, Butterless Popcorn, where we talked about movies. We both hosted and produced episodes.
